STAFF from an Oxfordshire firm spent a day travelling the entire London underground network to raise more than £8,000 for a cancer charity.

Workers from marketing agency Purple Frog, in North Weston, Thame, donned luminous green hooded tops for the challenge, starting in Leicester Square.

Three co-ordinated the logistics of the event, while the others split into 10 teams, each covering an area. Part of the Sue Ryder Bigwigs Challenge, each team got off at each stop to take a photograph of themselves outside the station.

The Tube challenge in November raised £8,650 for Sue Ryder, which supports people with long-term and terminal illnesses.

Organiser Mandy Buzzard said: “The whole company was involved and we had a number of ideas but decided the London Tube Challenge could be a really big social media event to raise awareness. Every member of the firm travelled to London and took part.

“We split the London Underground into 10 routes, which took seven to eight hours each, and we developed a specially designed Facebook app.

“We were really pleased to support Sue Ryder – they do a fabulous job.”
