A young student at Mabel Pritchard School has been congratulated for his artistic flair.

Mizan Rahman, nine, from the special needs school, won a competition to design the logo for new south east Oxford education charity, The Hawkwell Trust.

Mizan was presented with coloured paper and drawing pencils from Oxford East MP Andrew Smith, pictured with him.

Mizan said: “I love art. It was great having the opportunity to enter this competition and I’m really pleased I won.”

The competition was judged by trustees from the trust, a charity set up by Orchard Meadow School, Pegasus School, Rose Hill School, Windale School, the Oxford Academy and Mabel Pritchard School to provide new opportunities in education for students and families in the city.

David Baron, from the Oxford Academy, said: “Mizan’s logo really stood out amongst the crowd and gives a clear identity to the trust.”

The organisation aims to help students in south east Oxford reach their potential. The area is currently among the 20 per cent most deprived in the UK.
