WHEN I worked on a farm in the 1960s, when we finished a field, or at the end of the day, we stopped on the headland and cleaned the dirt off the wheels.

Now just about every inch of road from Northbrook Turn to Tackley and to Upper Heyford is covered in mud from tractors. Where’s the decorum gone from farmers and farm workers? It is not because they are in a hurry.

It looks a disgraceful mess and dangerous. It does not take long to clean mud from four wheels.
