Sir – I have recently experienced a significant visit to the John Radcliffe Hospital. My friends would be interested but in the wider context of proposed change, others may be interested by my impressions.

I’d been delivered by ambulance following an increasing frequency of quite trying symptoms and was quickly referred to the neuroscience department in the West Wing.

My impressions were not only on the high adequacy of the equipment used for analysing my condition, but also on the dedication, business-like manner and goodwill of surgeons, doctors and nurses involved.

These are features we should not risk threatening.
