YOUNGSTERS learned how to use pedal power to do everything from illuminating light bulbs to making smoothies.
The workshop at St Joseph’s Primary School, Headley Way, Oxford, was part of the Tree of Light science and art project, which is linked to the London 2012 Olympics.
Children learned about energy and safety before having a chance to generate their own electricity on bicycles. Emma Gardiner, 11, is pictured having a go.
William Fitzgerald, nine, pictured, with Guilherme Ross-Russell, 10, and a smoothie made with pedal power said: “I enjoyed the morning, especially powering the blenders and the other electrical equipment. I learned eco-friendly ways to make electricity.”
