A SERIAL burglar with a ‘large offending history’ has been jailed for 21 months.

Tobias Bruce, of Hazeldene Close, Eynsham, and formerly of Windmill Road, Oxford, admitted two burglaries at Oxford Crown Court on Friday.

The first burglary was in Cranham Street, Jericho, Oxford, on November 29 and the second was in Blackthorn Close, Headington, Oxford, on September 15.

Bruce also asked for a further six house burglaries to be taken into consideration when he was sentenced.

In the burglary in Cranham Street, Bruce was disturbed by the home owner after gaining access through an insecure door.

The 20-year-old dropped an iPad and mobile phone when he was chased by the owner.

Police tracked Bruce using his DNA which was found on the mobile phone keypad and he was later picked out during an identification parade.

In the burglary in Blackthorn Close, Bruce he stole a laptop computer and his fingerprint was later found on a window at the property.

PC David Kuttner, of the Oxford Local CID Burglary Team, said: “For such a young person, Bruce has a large offending history and has caused problems for the residents of Oxford over the last few years. I’m glad that he has been given a custodial sentence and hope that he will learn the error of his ways.”
