Just before the recent cold snap, I was trudging with my shopping trolley to Tesco and the grit lorries were out. I was worrying about my two sons driving and having a road accident, about my two granddaughters in these economic times and whether they would be able to find work and the fees for university.
I was also angry with Russia and China for not voting in the United Nations to help the people of Syria to fight against the regime. In all I was feeling really depressed.
But then I pushed the button of the pedestrian crossing in Cowley Road.
The lights changed, but instead of them being red to stop the traffic, a red heart shape appeared!
I commented on it to a fellow pedestrian and was told it had been put there for Valentine’s Day. It lifted my depression immediately.
What a beautiful idea!
