THE Bishop of Oxford, Rt Rev John Pritchard, escaped with “lightly toasted” feet after completing a daring firewalk for charity.
He raised nearly £1,000 for the Churchill Hospital’s Sobell House Hospice.
Bishop John, above, said: “The charity does a wonderful job and my lightly toasted feet are a small price to pay.”
Saturday’s challenge also raised funds for Headington bereavement charity SeeSaw.
Also taking the plunge in front of 200 spectators at Oxford Rugby Club in North Hinksey was Miss Oxfordshire Kirsty Beer.
The 21-year-old Cumnor resident said: “It was good fun – I’m hoping to raise several hundred pounds for Sobell House.”
Scaffolder Paul Bradford, 50, from Yarnton, added: “I had to get really psyched up for this but my feet were fine afterwards.”
