Some 1,100 homes in Marston and Headington were affected by a power cut at 10.30am on Saturday.
A Southern Electric spokesman said power was restored to at least 400 households by noon, about 200 more by 4pm and then the rest by 7.40pm.
The loss of power was said to have been caused by a fault in an underground cable.
