THE great and the good of Oxford are calling on its residents to clean up their act.
Yesterday saw the launch of the OxClean Spring Clean 2012.
More than 200 Oxford Spires pupils gathered to see Oxford United player Damian Batt kick off the campaign by attempting to launch a ball into a dustbin. But he just missed.
He said: “After an hour and a half of training maybe I wasn’t the right person to do it. But we like to do things for the community and I hate people who drop litter as well.”
Mr Batt was joined by Oxford’s Lord Mayor Elise Benjamin and chairman of Oxford Civic Society Peter Thompson.
The Spring Clean will take place on Friday, March 2, and Saturday, March 3, and will see hundreds of community groups take to the streets to pick up litter.
