YOUNG choristers at an Oxford junior school have hit all the right notes to win an award for the fourth year in a row.

The 35-strong choir from Oxford High Junior School picked up honours in the under-11 category at the Oxford Music Festival with the aptly-named song I Believe, written by Kidlington-based composer David Blackwell.

Judges praised the girls for the way their voices blended together and for their sound quality.

Louise Taylor, director of music at the school in Belbroughton Road, said: “We are really proud of them. They learn so fast. It is great to be part of a school with so much music going on.”

Proud chorister Laura Rechter, 10, added: “When we won it felt amazing because the other schools were really good.

“I like singing, it gives you a feeling of pride.”
