Am I the only one who finds new leadership of Abingdon Town Council highly amusing?

For months the Liberal Democrats on the council have been lobbying for funding for community projects and a lasting memorial, such as a bandstand, to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Conservatives blocked these ideas at every committee at which they have been raised.

Then suddenly, in the past few weeks, we have had councillors Monica and Sandy Lovett telling us how good it would be to have a bandstand and local projects, as though they have just come up with these ideas (Oxford Mail, February 3).

How many other Lib Dem ideas are the Conservatives going to hijack as their own?
