CHILDREN at an Oxford school have been letting their imaginations run away with them.
But the pupils at St Aloyisus Primary School, in Woodstock Road, have something to show for their flights of fancy, after putting together a magazine of stories they wrote themselves.
The magazine, called Write Away, was penned by members of the school’s writing club and published and edited using the expertise of a team of parents.
Club leader Tessa Roynon said schoolchildren needed to do more creative writing.
The parent of three at the school said: “The club gives the children a chance to do what they don’t have to within the National Curriculum – to write for fun.”
Headteacher Tom Walker said: “It’s absolutely fantastic.
“When Tessa Roynan talked about making a magazine I had the idea that it was a few sheets of A4 stapled together.
“What they have produced is really good. I have never seen anything like it from a primary school.”
There are 11 different stories in the magazine, covering everything from ghost stories to fairy tales.
