OXFORD Town Hall was filled with song and dance on Saturday night as Scouts and Guides performed ahead of the 61st Gang Show in March.

About 400 family and friends watched the youngsters in action to raise more than £750 for the children’s charity Oxfordshire Playbus.

The Oxfordshire Scout and Guide Gang Show, offering music, dance and comedy, will take place at the New Theatre on George Street.

More than 300 Scouts and Guides, aged between eight and 20, will take part in the tradition which dates back to the 1950s.

Gang Show producer Kim Griffiths said: “It is an opportunity to raise money for a local charity and it’s also a great chance for some of these children who have never performed before to have a go on this stage before they go to the New Theatre.”

Grace Shallis, 13, from Adderbury Guides, said: “The show is exciting and it is fun because it is such a big thing and the finished product is really good.”

Another to impress on stage was 13-year-old Scarlet O’Shea, right, with her performance of Candyman.

The show runs from Tuesday, March 13, to Saturday, March 17. Visit newtheatre.org.uk or call 0844 871 7627.
