Are people actually paid for preparing Recommended Retail Price lists?

A recent sales pamphlet tells me ‘RRP £33; usual price £15; sale price £10’.

It then proclaims “Save 70 per cent (£23) off the RRP”.

Surely this inducement is more than misleading – and similar words can be seen for almost anything – shoes, books, furniture, etc.

So what is the point of having the Recommended Retail Price at all?

If a manufacturer’s projected sales income is based on the product’s RRP, he will not be in business for long.
