I would like to offer a serious solution to the horrendous traffic chaos at Bicester Village. I am not an engineer or an architect or a road planner but the following is not rocket science, it is just plain common sense.

First: flatten Bicester Village, sell the site to Tesco who can then continue their quest to take over the country with supermarkets!

Second: stop all development and knock down the few, new houses which have been built, before it’s too late, on the new Kingswood... Brookside... Milton Keynes... site, between Bicester and Chesterton.

Let’s face it, nobody from either Bicester or Chesterton wanted this massive development anyway – apart from the councils that is, who will rub their hands when collecting the average council tax of £1,500 from each new house – good money just for providing a few street lights and emptying the bins each fortnight.

Third: rebuild Bicester Village on this site. Parking would not be a problem any more as you could then allocate as many spaces are you want.

The only downside I can see with this is that those very nice men from the council will want their share of Bicester Village’s success and fleece motorists with parking charges.

You could even build a new lane, running from the M40 down to the new entrance by the old Chesterton turn.

The exit would be on the roundabout by the Esso garage and would allow traffic to exit the Bicester Village site... everyone’s a winner!

And yet, if this were to happen, it would spell failure and defeat for the planners and council, a thing they do not like to hear.

Local people have been trying to tell them over the last few years that they have got things wrong, that Bicester does not want more houses, that the roads will not take all this extra traffic... but would they listen?
