IN reference to Chris Payne’s letter regarding Thames Valley Police officers’ unpressed trousers and dirty boots.
As the officers have to do a course to ride a bike, this is no doubt a health and safety issue.
Hot irons may burn, polish may cause a skin allergy.
In Oxford city police days, we had very high standards and wore headgear as well.
