l SUSAN Thomas includes an awful lot of tosh in the many letters she sends to you.

Her latest letter (January 4) contains the ludicrous suggestion that Keith Mitchell, leader of the county council “has never been in favour of paid parking in Oxford”.

Keith was leader of the council when it introduced controlled parking zones in north Summertown and elsewhere. This means that I and my neighbours each have to pay £50 a year for the privilege of parking outside our own houses.

There was never a parking problem in north Oxford and the CPZ was entirely unnecessary. It was simply a way of squeezing more money out of local residents.
