Sir – It is not the narrowed cycle path by the Said Business School that may cause a fatality, inconvenient and badly drained though that is. The real danger lies at the end of the path where it takes pedestrians and cyclists out to the station forecourt.

On one side they then have to cross the unmarked entrance to the short-stay station car park, and on the other, where before was a wide pavement leading to a safe crossing, there is now a deep entrance to the new underground car park.

The pavement there has been removed completely, partly to make way for the new car park entrance, and partly for use as a park for heavy vehicles and machinery. There is no safe alternative for pedestrians and cyclists whatsoever.

This is the result of dangerously careless planning on the part of both councils; as Matt Davies of the Said Business School rightly points out, the business school have operated within rules decided by the councils all along.
