A shop worker was left "shaken" following a robbery at an Oxford bookmakers this morning.

The Betfred shop in Cinnaminta Road, Headington, was targeted at 8.20am.

A man and a woman approached a female employee as she was opening the shop.

The man grabbed the worker and forced her inside the shop before making her hand over several hundred pounds.

The man is described as white, about 5ft 10ins, with a stocky build and thick stubble. He was wearing a green hooded anorak with the hood up and a pink beanie hat underneath.

The girl is described as being in her mid-teens, about 5ft tall and with a small build. She was wearing a black and grey coat and had a black scarf covering her face.

Det Sgt Matt Jarman said:“Thankfully the female member of staff was not injured in the robbery, but was obviously shaken by the ordeal.

“A lime green coloured saloon car was seen near to the shop shortly before the incident and we believe that this may be connected to the robbery.

“I would be keen to speak to anyone who may have seen this vehicle, or anyone who can provide us with information about its whereabouts.

“If anyone has any information at all in connection with this crime then I would like to hear from them and would urge them to contact me as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Jarman at Thames Valley Police on 101 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555111.
