Sir – Even if, as county council leader Keith Mitchell said (Library groups to seek legal advice, December 15) “We (the council) have worked very hard to make sure we fully comply with all the legal requirements”, is it not pathetic that only one option was presented in the consultation document simply because, as council director of social and community services, John Jackson, stated in the paper for the overview and scrutiny committee “There is no legal obligation to offer more than one option”?
Unless the council presents all the options in consultations so that people can give informed responses, consultations can rightly be described as shams. And how is that for wasting time and money?
Councillors of all parties, please send the ‘cabinet’ and officials a wake-up call when the matter comes before the full council.
Geoff Feasey, North Leigh
