BEHIND door 16 of our Badvent calendar lurks Samah Khalifa who police believe could hold the key to solving a Cowley burglary.

Each day during December the Oxford Mail is teaming up with Thames Valley Police to publish an appeal for Oxford’s most wanted suspects.

So far reader tip-offs have led to two arrests and have given detectives a host of new leads to follow up.

Police officers want to quiz 28-year-old Khalifa about a break-in at the Templars Square shopping centre and are hoping that our readers will be able to provide them with the information that can lead them to him.

Electrical equipment was stolen from an office in the early hours of March 13, when an intruder smashed the window to snatch a hi-fi and a laptop.

The break-in activated an alarm and police officers were sent to the scene but the burglar had already fled.

Now detectives have questions for Khalifa, who is thought to live in the Cowley area.

Khalifa is Egyptian, and is about 5ft 9in tall, with brown eyes and short, black hair. He is clean shaven and speaks with a foreign accent.

Det Sgt Claire Storry, of Oxford’s burglary team, said: “It is believed that the offender was trying to gain access to the finance office within the property, particularly the safe, but this was protected by an alarm system which alerted security.

“Khalifa, who is wanted for questioning over this offence, has links to the Cowley area of Oxford. Do you recognise him? Have you seen him in the area and know of his whereabouts?”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
