OXFORD shoppers were yesterday treated to Christmas carols in aid of the homeless.
Children from St Barnabas Primary School, in Hart Street, Jericho, sang a selection of their favourite festive tunes in the Clarendon Shopping Centre, to raise money for the Oxford Poverty Action Trust (OxPAT), a charity for local homeless people.
Charity spokesman Pat Mulvihill said: “We are really grateful.
“It is lovely for a local school to come out and help us like this.
“The needs of the homeless are more acute at this time of year – it’s cold and a lot of people feel more down around Christmas.
“We’re entirely run by volunteers so any extra fundraising is most welcome.”
OxPAT works with local organisations and agencies to provide food, shelter, clothes and advice for those on the streets or struggling with addition.
Collection boxes have also been put in shops around the city over Christmas.
