TWO men were taken to hospital after violence erupted outside a Banbury nightclub.

Up to 20 people were involved in a fight outside the Sound Exchange, in High Street, at 5.45am last Saturday.

Police said two men were punched to the ground and knocked unconscious and a third was “violently kicked” in the head.

Two men were taken to Banbury’s Horton Hospital, in Oxford Road, and one of them was kept in for observation.

Det Insp Steve Duffy urged anyone who saw the fight to come forward.

He said: “I have viewed the CCTV footage of this incident and I’m shocked.

“There were obviously many people wandering around who would have been in licensed premises during the night, and there were people on their way to work, so I’m confident this incident was very well witnessed.

“I would appeal to people who were present to come forward and help us with our inquiries.”

He said police patrols were being stepped up as a result of the incident.

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
