TWO army cadet instructors have been recognised for their efforts in collecting for this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Sergeants Michael Hankins and Lloyd Green collected £6,188 from shoppers at Bicester Village – a third more than they raised last year, when they collected more than £4,000.
And, in recognition of their efforts, the pair have been presented with Certificates of Appreciation by the Bicester branch of the Royal British Legion.
Sgt Hankins said: “This was half as much again as last year. People really dug deeply into their pockets.”
The certificates were presented by Bicester’s Poppy Appeal organiser Barry Larner, a retired prison governor, and the appeal’s former organiser Brian Bailey.
Colonel David Carson, Commandant of Oxfordshire (The Rifles) ACF, said he was proud of the collectors. He said: “The two instructors are a credit to the Army Cadet Force and excellent examples to the cadets.”
