THIS was the moment a Sainsbury’s home delivery van arrived just a little too close to home.
The vehicle became wedged under the low roof of a block of flats in Apiary Way, Cholsey, scraping off the wooden trim.
Residents had to help the driver let down the van’s tyres before it could reverse free.
Graphic designer Marc Ayres, 27, who lives above the coach house, said yesterday: “I heard this massive bang and a grating sound. It seemed like something had exploded or gone seriously wrong.”
He said it was the third time a vehicle had scraped the low roof since the flats were built three years ago.
Residents are asking South Oxfordshire District Council to install a metal bar in front of the entrance to prevent vans from getting stuck there.
