This year’s senior citizen’s Christmas film festival gets off to a right royal start today with its screening of the The King’s Speech at 11am.

Pensioners from all over the city and county are invited to join the Oxford Mail, and the festival’s co-sponsor the Phoenix Cinema in Walton Street, Oxford, to enjoy the start of our fifth festival of Merry Christmas matinees.

Your ticket, which includes free hot drinks and mince pies, is simply a copy of that day’s Oxford Mail.

Jeremy Smith, Oxford Mail entertainment editor, pictured alongside Matt Taylor of the Phoenix cinema, said: “I think the films this year have that Saturday afternoon matinee thrill about them.”

Call the Phoenix on 01865 316570 (after 1pm) for information, or call Jeremy Smith on 01865 425435 (after 2pm).
