I’m sure many were delighted by the switching on of Oxford’s Christmas illuminations.
But was it really necessary for roads all around Oxford to be closed and traffic re-directed from the early hours of the morning?
It’s not clear if this was a decision of the county or the city council but perhaps someone from one of those bodies could explain why hundreds, if not thousands, of people were inconvenienced and massive disruption caused to deliveries, etc by this strange decision, considering that the actual events were not until the evening?
Many of us work on Saturdays – in my own case my usual bus journey of 20 minutes took nearly an hour and I’m sure a lot of people had similar experiences.
As a member of Oxford UKIP, I have campaigned for more accountability and less high-handed interference with the lives of the people of Oxford from the local authorities elected to represent them. I think they deserve an explanation.
