When two old cottages were renovated in 1976, owner Rex Powell was determined not to forget the past.
A plaque with the dates 1840 and 1976 was unveiled by villager Lillian Bennett, seen in the final picture, to make sure their history was remembered. The cottages were condemned as unsafe, but thanks to Mr Powell and his civil engineering firm, they were restored as near as possible to their original condition.
In the middle picture, machine man Ken Hastings checks one of the huge drying rollers at Sandford Paper Mill in 1974.
There was plenty on offer for hungry regulars at the Kings Arms pub in 1985. Sheila Sinnott and Rosalind Olive are seen in the top picture, behind the server, with chef Kevin Copland in the background.
