A fast-growing travel company, which puts together tailor-made tours to faraway places, is generating more jobs as it moves from Bicester to a new home near Witney.

Audley Travel, founded in 1995, will move in November from its converted barn in Stratton Audley to offices alongside the River Windrush at the former New Mill blanket factory, in New Mill Lane, between Witney and Crawley.

Now it is looking to add a minimum of 13 more staff to its 125-strong workforce.

The company is recruiting at least eight country specialists, with in-depth knowledge of South Africa, Southern and Eastern Africa, China, Central Asia, India, South East Asia, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand. It also needs a procurement analyst, ticketing agents and reservation administration assistants.

Founder and managing director Craig Burkinshaw, 36, said: "Our continued growth means that we need bigger offices and New Mill is able to provide this, together with a beautiful rural setting."

Audley Travel specialists are regularly sent overseas to keep up-to-date on any new developments, so that they can give their clients comprehensive advice.

Independent travellers setting out from Britain outnumber those on package tours for the first time in decades.

Mr Burkinshaw founded Audley Travel in his kitchen in Stratton Audley with the idea of tailor-making tours to provide the best of both worlds. Now the company turns over more than £30m annually.

Marketing director Jim Millward said: "We have kept expanding, despite some hard times after the 9/11 attacks and the Iraq war."

He added: "There's always something happening somewhere. Just last week there was the coup in Thailand, but we diversify and continue."
