DAVID Cameron paid a top lobbyist £137,500 for land neighbouring his home in Dean, near Witney.

It has been disclosed the Prime Minister bought the land from Lord Chadlington, chief executive of one of the county’s top public relations companies and the chairman of his constituency Conservative Association.

The peer and Huntsworth boss then donated the money back to the party.

Downing Street said the land had been valued by an independent surveyor before the transaction went through in July and the deal was cleared by senior civil servants.

The price tag took account of any potential value added to Mr Cameron’s home, according to a Number 10 source.

The deal was completed in July and was not publicly disclosed on either parliamentary or Whitehall registers, because Mr Cameron is not required to release details of private property.

Mr and Mrs Cameron are not reported by the Land Registry as having taken out a mortgage to make the purchase, and there is no suggestion either party has done anything improper.
