Sir – I am a little puzzled as to why you covered so many of the special services and yet omitted to report on the service at the Commonwealth War Grave Cemetery at Botley. There are two services in Oxford city.
As an ex-serviceman, I laid my usual wreath remembering friends and family who lost their lives in the many areas of the Second World War, plus those in later wars — Malaya and Aden. There was a very large crowd, a number of notables, representatives of the armed services, plus a large contingent of NATO personnel and Commonwealth in their very impressive uniforms.
We were surrounded by the graves of servicemen who lost their lives in war. All very impressive and a moving experience.
