Sir – There are hundreds of people who live 20 or more miles outside Oxford who have enjoyed using Thornhill park-and-ride in order to get to London for business appointments and for pleasure.
Now, it is utterly impossible to do this, unless we leave home at 5am in order to find a parking place.
I implore the county council to bring in charges, in line with the city council, so this nightmare is removed.
The relatively newly-built Water Eaton park-and-ride is of little consequence and is not convenient for London-bound travellers and with Thornhill not charging a fee, of course anyone working in Oxford will use that and then bus back into the city.
It’s common sense and now the fee-paying car parks are under-used because of this loophole.
Why should the ‘country cousins’ be denied parking access at Thornhill?
How else are we going to get to London or away for a few days without this facility?
The railway is not an option, it’s far too expensive and not nearly so convenient.
Introduce a charge like the other three remaining park-and-rides and make it fairer for everyone.
