THESE sisters are the cream of the crop.

Their banoffee ice cream flavour is being sold alongside some of Oxford’s favourites.

Lola, six, and Mabel Meyer, five, of Cardigan Street, made their own ice cream, and it is now on sale at parlours across the city.

Lola said: “I love ice cream and I am really proud of our flavour.

“I like banana and toffee so we just put it all together. It was really fun to make.”

The St Barnabas pupils took part in a competition organised by the Jericho primary school and G&D’s, to put together a brand new taste.

Lola and Mabel’s flavour won after being given the backing of their fellow pupils and G&D’s ice cream experts.

Made with banana and caramel it has been dubbed St Bananabas Banoffee, and 20p from each £2.10p scoop will be going towards the school.

It is on sale at all three G&D’s branches in Oxford, subject to availability.

Headteacher Fiona Hawkins said: “We are thrilled to be involved with G&D’s and very grateful for their support in giving us 20p from each scoop.”

Mr Khan, who helped the youngsters put their flavour together, said: “St Bananabas is a really nice flavour. It works really well. We haven’t got a lot of it left, which says a lot.”
