YOUNGSTERS turned their hands to the historic crafts of thatching and daubing at the weekend.
The Oxfordshire Youth Arts Partnership’s Hidden Camp scheme at Cogges Manor Farm in Witney on Sunday gave teenagers a chance to experience life as a Saxon.
The youngsters designed and built an outdoor kitchen to cook food and made a building using Saxon techniques. The structure will now stay at the site.
Elliot Sampson, 16, from Swinbrook Road, Carterton, said: “The whole project was a fantastic opportunity to learn ancient skills on a historical site, leaving something behind that can be used and developed by the community.
“I thoroughly enjoyed thatching.”
