OXFORD: The Bishop of Oxford was one of 17 Bishops to yesterday oppose a planned cap on benefits.
The Government is proposing to set a £500-a-week benefits cap for families in its Welfare Reform Bill.
Rt Revd John Pritchard signed a letter that raised concerns about the move’s impact on the poor.
It said: “The Church of England has a commitment and moral obligation to speak up for those who have no voice.”
