“WE WERE guinea pigs...” A chilling admission, but unquestionably true.
Many in the military were unnecessarily exposed to the dangers of radiation during the Fifties and Sixties when the defence of our country lay almost solely in the development of nuclear weaponry.
So it simply isn’t enough for the MOD to now state: “We are grateful to them for the part they played in the nuclear testing programme.”
Yes, of course they were doing their duty, but clearly whichever branch of the armed forces they were serving in equally failed to warn and properly protect them from the inevitable consequences of their involvement.
Thus, their fight for compensation is right and proper, and must go on.
