I would like, humbly, to congratulate all those concerned with the planning, organisation and conduct of the Remembrance Sunday Parade in Oxford on November 13 and also to express my sincere thanks to the people of Oxford for attending the occasion in such large numbers.
As one of the dwindling number of veterans on parade, this made a glorious November day even more special.
During my time in the Army I served for many years with Arab and Gurkha soldiers and indeed, stood alongside Gurkha veterans on the parade.
Thus I always find the multi-faith nature of Oxford’s Remembrance Service to be particularly apt, reflecting the true nature of our country and its armed forces.
