Sir – Thanks to Chris Koenig for highlighting the plight of Oxford’s energy-saving residents and the local solar panel industry (Report, November 10).
Just after he became Prime Minister, David Cameron promised his would be “the greenest Government ever”. How suddenly slashing feed-in tariffs by more than half is going to help Oxford householders ‘go green’ is difficult to understand.
The giant electricity and gas companies are making huge profits and could well afford to pay back a little money to people who want to install solar panels and generate their own power.
But insulation, double glazing and solar panels are still a sound investment. Our energy prices are unlikely to start falling any time soon.
