IT’S less than a year to the Olympics and children in Oxford showed their excitement yesterday.
Primary school pupils from around the city came together to perform an Olympic opening ceremony at St Gregory the Great secondary school in Cricket Road. They’d spent weeks making colourful banners about the Olympic values and what they meant to them.
St Gregory physical education teacher Louise Newell said: “Each of the schools was given a value, equality, determination, excellence, friendship and inspiration. This was our way of raising awareness about the Olympics, so we followed the ceremony with lots of games and different activities.”
Other schools involved included St Ebbe’s, Our Lady and New Hinksey primary schools.
