A PAPER boy who has got the Oxford Mail out to his customers through wind, rain and snow has been named delivery agent of the year.

Eddie Smith, 18, from Grove, was presented with a certificate and a Dawes Mirage bicycle, provided by Warlands Cycles in Botley Road, after a vote by Oxford Mail readers.

Eddie, who has been doing his round in Grove for several years, said: “I was pretty happy when I found out.”

He said he loved doing his paper round, and had not missed a day apart from organised holidays.

In their nominations, customers praised Eddie’s dedication.

One said: “He always delivers on time, he even knows how to put it through the door so my dog can’t chew it up.”

Another read: “Ed has been our paper boy for years and has never failed to deliver our Oxford Mail in all weathers, including snow.”

He received his bicycle and delivery agent of the year certificate from the bike shop yesterday.

Oxford Mail newspaper territory manager Will Preene said: “Eddie has been an excellent servant to the business, delivering a first-class service to our customers.

“He is one of many excellent delivery agents who distribute our titles every day, forming an important part of our service.”
