AN Oxfordshire serviceman is set to test his rugby skills against some of the greats at a charity match.
Flight Lieutenant Nathan Jones, who is based at RAF Brize Norton, will take part in the Help for Heroes fundraising match at Twickenham Stadium.
He will line-up alongside Rugby World Cup winner Josh Lewsey, former England lock Danny Grewcock, Scottish legend Kenny Logan and ex-French flanker Serge Betsen.
The last time the event was held, in 2008, 52,000 people watched and it raised almost £1.5m for Help for Heroes.
Flt Lt Jones has rugby experience himself, having represented the RAF in rugby since 2002. He has also been on the books at Leicester Tigers, London Wasps and the Wales Sevens team, although he did not play for the first teams.
He said: “It is a dream come true to be asked to play at Twickenham with some of the greatest rugby players of all time.
“It is going to massive physical and mental test for me but one I’m very much looking forward to.
“But what makes this experience all the more special is that I will be helping raise money for my fellow servicemen and women who have been injured in the line of duty.”
The event will take place on Saturday, December 3, and kicks off at 4.30pm.
Tickets cost £30 for adults, £10 for under 16s, with all the money going to Help for Heroes. To purchase tickets, call 0844 847 2492 or visit ticketmaster.co.uk.
