People convicted of offences at Magistrates' courts around the county recently BANBURY l Ian Cammidge, 39, of Cherwell Close, Bicester, admitted handling stolen goods – £600 of football equipment from Bicester Town FC – on August 23. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £40 costs. Ordered to return the equipment.

l Adam Wells, 23, of Springfield Avenue, Banbury, admitted criminal damage to a car tyre in Banbury on September 28. Fined £200, a £15 victims’ surcharge, £85 costs and £60 compensation.

l Steven McCabe, 32, of Rotary Way, Banbury, admitted shoplifting meat worth £12 from Co-op in Banbury on September 30. Six-month conditional discharge.

l Maria Brogden, 44, of Winchester Close, Banbury, admitted failing to notify Cherwell District Council of a change in circumstance in regards to entitlement to benefit between June 23, 2008, and August 15, 2010. Told to do 100 hours’ unpaid work and pay £100 costs.

l Darren James, 30, of Lambs Crescent, Banbury, admitted stealing a bicycle valued at £399 in Banbury on September 26 and two counts of commission of a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge. Original offences of shoplifting resentenced. Jailed for 28 days.

l Joanne Webb, 35, of Dashwood Road, Oxford, admitted stealing a carriage clock valued at £20 from Sobell House hospice on March 15. Given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay £7.50 compensation and £40 costs.

l Samantha Scott, 27, of the Ley Community, Yarnton, admitted assault on October 18, 2010. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £100 compensation.

OXFORD l Ian Morton, 22, of Stratton Way, Abingdon, admitted failing to comply with a direction of a police constable to leave a locality for 10 hours in Abingdon on September 24. Given a six-month conditional discharge and told to pay £85 costs.

l Christopher Rees, 33, of no fixed address, admitted attempting to steal items belong to South Central Ambulance Service and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Oxford on October 12. Fined £200 and a £15 victims’ surcharge, deemed paid by detention in the courthouse until the end of the day.

l Adam Skinner, 21, of Howard Street, Oxford, admitted drink-driving in Howard Street on September 24. Had 96 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 microgrammes. Told to go to an attendance centre for 18 hours and pay £85 costs. Banned from driving for two years.

l Joshua Ayres, 23, of Exbourne Road, Abingdon, admitted using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a fear of unlawful violence in Abingdon on May 27. Fined £100, £85 costs and a £15 victims’ surcharge.

l Matthew Morris, 33, of Nowell Road, Oxford, admitted shoplifting baby milk and deodorant valued at £49.98 from Boots in Oxford on September 23. Fined £30 and a £15 victims’ surcharge.

l Rhys Phillips, 28, of Godfrey Close, Oxford, convicted of assaulting police constable Gareth Herniman in Oxford on May 29. Given a 12-week curfew and told to pay £150 costs.

l Robert Knight, 25, of Whitehorn Way, Oxford, convicted of assault on April 20, April 17 and March 28. Given a four-month prison term, suspended for a year, due to “previous cautions and serious nature of repeated offences”. Also given 12 months’ supervision and told to do 200 hours’ unpaid work. Told to pay £775 costs and given an indefinite restraining order from the victim.

l Colin Gallagher, 50, of Luther Street, Oxford, admitted stealing a £9.99 book from the Alice Shop in Oxford on September 9. Jailed for five days.

l Merlando Stapleton, 20, of Sandy Lane, Oxford, admitted possession of 8.86g of cannabis (Class B) and possession of a kitchen knife in Oxford on December 21. Told to go to an attendance centre for 21 hours and given an eight-week curfew. Also told to pay £100 costs.

l Katie O’Brien, 31, of Campbell Road, Oxford, admitted drink-driving in Oxford Road, Cowley, on September 22. Had 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 microgrammes. Fined £300, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 18 months.

l Ian Reilly, 32, of Marsh Road, Oxford, admitted drink-driving in Cowley Road, Oxford, on September 24. Had 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micro- grammes. Fined £250, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 16 months.

l Paul Wilkins, 44, of Castle Eaton, Swindon, convicted of stealing a jumper and vehicle owner’s manual belonging to Thames Valley Police in Ashbury on July 12 and stealing a CD player/radio belong to Thames Valley Police in Ashbury on July 13. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £1,635.35 compensation.
