A BUTCHER has been given a glam rock ‘nod’ of approval for his award-winning cider sausage, writes Becky Brooks.
Denshams Butchers, in High Street, Witney, has been named maker of the South East’s most legendary banger by rock legend Noddy Holder for its Green Goblin Cider Sausage.
The shop was handed a Gold Disc of Approval by the lead singer of 1970s band Slade to mark British Sausage Week, which runs until Sunday.
Mr Holder said the sausage “stood out as something genuinely different”.
The banger is made from Wychwood Brewery’s Green Goblin Cider and locally reared pigs, which are fed on hops direct from the Witney brewery.
John Timms, 27, assistant manager at Denshams, said: “We’ve been making the sausage for two or three years now. Customers actually selected the sausage as the one we should enter in the competition.”
