Cyclists flouting the law by riding without lights were stopped by police in the city centre last night.
Officers handed out 162 £30 fixed penalty notices to riders without front or back lights in High Street and Botley Road between 6pm and 8pm.
Dozens more with just one working light were told to fix their second light and ordered to get off and push their bikes home in the meantime.
