Jetting off to Brazil for a couple of years and an endless supply of free chocolate might sound too good to be true but for one Oxford couple, the dream is a reality.
Rebecca and Giles Atwell are letting their three-storey home in Bainton Road as Mr Atwell is moving to Sao Paulo to become marketing director of chocolate for Cadbury’s parent company Kraft.
The couple, who have a four-year-old daughter Nena and two-year-old son Ben, are shipping most of their furniture to Brazil and putting the rest into storage.
Mrs Atwell, an anthropologist, said: “We decided to use a letting agency as we will be so far away.
“We’ve lived here since 2008 and never intended to let the house, so it’s emotional. That’s why we want tenants who will look after it properly while we are away.
“We did think long and hard about it but decided to go for it while the kids are small enough to still move around.
“Giles has to do a lot of chocolate tasting as part of his work so we have a whole cupboard full of chocolate sometimes.
“If we don’t get around to packing, you never know, it might still be there when the tenants move in.”
Mr Atwell has a history in confectionery as his father and grandparents owned the Lesme chocolate factory in Banbury.
No 89 Bainton Road, which has five bedrooms, three bathrooms and landscaped gardens, is available to rent, unfurnished, at £3,495 per month.
