A WAR hero who lost both legs and an arm in a Taliban bomb blast has been moved 140 miles from home after claiming he was bullied by an officer.

Triple amputee Corporal Tom Neathway has been moved from a specially-adapted flat at RAF Brize Norton while the harassment allegation is investigated.

The 2 Para soldier was not expected to survive when explosives hidden under a sandbag blew up while he was on patrol in Kajaki in Helmand Province in July 2008.

His left arm was amputated at Camp Bastion before he was flown back to the UK, where both legs were removed above the knee.

He spent four weeks in intensive care, and another month in a specialist burns and plastic surgery unit.

Despite his horrific injuries, the 28-year-old has always vowed to return to the front line to serve his country.

But he claims he has suffered harassment at RAF Brize Norton.

A formal complaint has been lodged against a Warrant Officer Class One over his behaviour towards the injured hero.

On one occasion, the 52-year-old WO1 is alleged to have sneered: “You’re not much of a Paratrooper any more, are you?”

And Cpl Neathway’s official computer records were downgraded so that he was listed as a clerk instead of an infantry soldier.

The WO1 accused of bullying is understood to have been charged and fined for assaulting a recruit in 1991.

A source told the Oxford Mail: “Everybody in 2 Para is genuinely angry about this. It should not have happened, but I know the history of the officer involved and it does not surprise me one bit.”

Under army protocols, once a complaint is made, the two soldiers involved are separated while an investigation is carried out.

In this case, Cpl Neathway was moved three hours away to Colchester, Essex.

The MoD said he was given a ground-floor adapted flat to stay in, but the Oxford Mail understands he has been forced to lodge at a friend’s house because it is not yet ready for him to move in.

The inquiry is expected to last at least another fortnight.

A MoD spokesman said: “We are aware that a soldier based at RAF Brize Norton has made allegations of harassment against an individual in his chain of command; this is being thoroughly investigated in accordance with the joint service complaints procedures.”

Cpl Neathway declined to comment.
