A developer is looking to build up to 350 homes on a site north of Grove.

Gallagher Estates Ltd has asked Vale of White Horse District Council for its opinion about possible development on the land next to the Williams F1 centre close to Grove Wick Farm.

The firm is behind the 1,350 home development at Bure Park in Bicester and has outline planning permission to build 1,000 homes in Bankside, south Banbury.

Although the company would not comment on its plans, its website says it has a 30-acre “site for promotion” in Wantage which could accommodate up to 350 homes.

The site could be a mixed development with both residential and industrial elements.

The interest comes as developer Persimmon Homes has yet to submit a planning application to build 2,500 homes on the former Grove Airfield site, despite the planned development running five years behind schedule.

The district council has fallen short of its housing targets as the Grove Airfield development was not delivered on time.

Warwick-based Gallagher Estates made no comment and the firm’s agent Savills could not say what the developer hoped to use the land for.
