COUNCILLOR John Sanders has a point when calling for further park-and-ride charges to be introduced.
Since charges were introduced at Pear Tree, Redbridge and Seacourt, drivers who have been clamouring for spaces at Thornhill and Water Eaton instead. The result is clogged streets and angry commuters.
It’s the sort of not-joined-up thinking you’d expect from Conservative-run Oxfordshire County Council’s free park and rides and Labour-run Oxford City Council’s paid-for sites.
Yet here is an opportunity to level the playing field. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll be in the money again and charges can be scrapped. Maybe.
