HUNDREDS of singers packed into Oxford’s New Theatre to add their voices to a fundraising driver for a cancer care charity.
More than 500 members of Oxfordshire choral societies took part in the Macmillan Cancer Support fundraiser Come and Sing yesterday .
Motivated by his mother Julie’s 2009 death from the disease aged 56, organiser Sheridan Edward brought singers from across the county together for the second year in a row.
They were joined by Soprano Dame Felicity Lott and a full orchestra in performing Faure’s Requiem. Organisers hope to raise £15,000.
Mr Edward, an office manager at Modern Art Oxford, said: “I’m really happy with the number of people taking part.
“This is the second year we’ve done it and it would be nice to make it an annual thing.” Picture: Ric Mellis
